Baby Dedication

We believe at Community Church that dedicating your child(ren) to the Lord is a big event in the life of your family. We encourage every family to make this commitment to the Lord, their children, and their church. Registration for Child Dedication is currently open for Sunday, July 15th. Please review our list of frequently asked questions prior to registering at the end of this page. We look forward to participating in this exciting time with your family.

FAQ's

Is having my child dedicated the same as having him/her christened or Baptized?
Dedication and baptism are not synonymous terms. We believe a person must make a decision to be baptized. However, through dedication you are acknowledging that your child is a blessing from God and that you desire God's blessing in your child's life

How old does my child have to be? How old is too old?
There is no minimum age for your child to be dedicated. We ask that children that are in middle school attend our Basis Program, which is class that teaches the basics about the Bible and Christianity. There will be a class to learn about Water Baptism, and an opportunity to decide whether s/he is ready to take that next step.

Are my family and friends able to attend?
Yes! We believe that having your child(ren) dedicated should be a celebrated event in the lives of your family and friends. We would love to help you facilitate this by giving you invitations 3 weeks prior to the dedication so that you are able to mail/give to family and friends. As a courtesy we ask that you please have a count of the family and friends that will be sitting with you on the day of dedication so we can reserve seating for everyone.

What role do my friends and family play the day of the dedication?
Dedication is such an important event for so many of our families; we ask that you have no more than 4 people stand with you during the dedication.

Why do I need to send in a picture?
We ask that you send in a picture so that we are able to display your child’s photo while they are being dedicated so that the whole church family is able to see your beautiful child(ren)! If you are dedicating multiple children, feel free to send in a picture of everyone together.

Is there video of the Dedication available for purchase?
No, we do not release video of the Child Dedication. If your friends and family are far away and would like to watch the dedication live, they can go to the following web address: www.thecommunitychurch.org/live. This will be available for both services.

Is there a class that will explain things further?
Yes! We require a Child Dedication Counseling class, which is conducted approximately 2-3 weeks prior to Child Dedication. This class will cover why Child Dedication is important, you will be able to meet Jeff Nicolette, our Student Ministries Director, and you will be able to ask any questions you may have about Dedication.

When is the Child Dedication Counseling class, and what if I cannot attend?
The Child Dedication Counseling class is scheduled for Sunday, July 1st at 10:00am in the CrossWalk. If you are unable to attend this class, we ask that you email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to schedule a make up class prior to Sunday, July 8th.
